FOR NOW – WORSHIP WITH US ONLINE

In this season of pandemic we are keeping you safe by offering online worship. Each week a sermon and mid-week devotional are published on the home page of this website. Take a moment to register your attendance for worship. Send us an email (church@shepherdofthehills.org) or give us a call (623-584-2280) to let us know you have visited. We would love to chat with you and answer any questions. If you like we can include you on our mailing list for the weekly “E-News” and the monthly “Voice” publications so you see our current offerings and opportunities.

Communion is offered online on the first Sunday of each month, and all are welcome at our virtual table.

FOR LATER: WHEN IT IS SAFE TO GATHER

Where do I park? Feel free to park anywhere in the massive parking lot. There are many handicapped parking spaces for you to use. You are welcome to pull up to the front curb and unload any passengers there before parking your car. Most Sunday mornings there is a greeter at the front curb to greet and assist persons if needed.

Saturday services?

Saturday Night 4:00 p.m., “Sweet Hour of Prayer” worship service is held in the Chapel. Those attending are asked to pick three hymns they would like to sing. Sing from the hymnal or VEW display. Attire is casual.

Sunday services?

9:00 a.m. Traditional Service with music from the Chancel Choir and sometimes the Bell Choir. With a variety of musical styles and hymnody.

10:45 a.m. Praise Service with the Praise Band in the Sanctuary. Communion available weekly. Come as you are.
Must I be a member of Shepherd of the Hills UMC to partake in Communion?

Communion is served the first Saturday and Sunday of the month and every Sunday during the 10:45 a.m. Praise Service. The Communion Table is open to anyone who seeks right relationship with God.  From children to adults, members or first time worshippers all who come are welcome.  The Methodist tradition is to serve grape juice rather than wine as part of this openness.

Is there a dress code at Shepherd of the Hills UMC?
It is Arizona and it can get hot!  When you worship with us you will find people in a whole range of dress, from shorts and sandals to formal dress and men in sports jackets and suits. We encourage you to wear what makes you feel comfortable.  We encourage you to come as you are and experience the love of Christ. As in 1 Samuel 16:7 – “Mortals look on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart”.
How early should I arrive for service?
We encourage you to arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of worship if you are a first time visitor. This will help you find a parking space and navigating around our campus without feeling rushed.  We encourage you to check in at our Welcome Cart, located just outside of our Sanctuary. Greeters and Worship Hosts will help you with any questions, you may have.

Is there a nursery?
Not at this time but you are welcome to sit in the Narthex in the open window seats. There are small TVs in this area to hear and view the service. Don’t forget to stop by the Welcome Cart and receive goody bags for the children. Children are always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Please join us after Sundays’ Traditional Worship Services in Fellowship Hall for coffee, lemonade, cookies and fellowship.
