HeartSavers Ministry
Support in a Medical Crisis while attending Church
Church volunteers participated in the National PAD Trial in 1999 for 3 years to determine whether citizens with training in CPR and the use of AED (Automatic External Defibrillators) could successfully resuscitate victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. As a result of participating in this study, a group of Church members were trained in CPR and the use of the AED and the HeartSaver ministry was begun.
HeartSaver Volunteers are members or staff who have been certified by the American Heart Association to respond to someone having sudden cardiac arrest. The goal is to provide assistance during the first minutes of a crisis before the paramedics arrive.
